Both in-laws, relatives, friends and the entire family of the late Mrs Margret Oyibo Ezenwa, Nee Ekwonu, popularly known as Mmadiche gathered to pay their last respect to her in her country home, Otoko Village, Isuanaocha, Awka North Local Government Area, Anambra State.
The late Mrs Ezenwa, who was a devote Catholic faithful and served in the seminary school as a caterer in her early days, was laid to rest at the age of 76. She was married and blessed with many kids and relatives.
In separate interviews with the in-laws during the funeral, Angus Nworah, also known as Anyichie 1 of Isuanaocha, Christian Ifeajagu (Nwatanachonkeya), Mr Enest Eze and Mr Festus Aghaulo, respectively described their mother in-law as a humble woman from a well known family in Isuanaocha, which attracted their individual interests to be her in-laws.
According to Nworah, “she was truly a good mother-in-law and we continued living peacefully since I married her first daughter, Cordelia. Today, it is unfortunate that we are mourning her. We can’t question God but we pray that God will bless the bereaved family with long life and prosperity, and give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”.
In his word, Ifeajagu said: “We have buried our in-laws which means that the both father and mother are no more alive. We only pray that God will console us, and grant us good health to live longer than they lived while we continue to maintain the good peaceful relationship among ourselves”.
Also speaking, Aghaulo said,”she was a kind of woman that everybody would wish to have as a mother-in-law. There has never been a day I visited her that I would not go home with happiness. She was indeed a good woman.”
First child and daughter of the deceased, Mrs Cordelia Nworah described her mother as an industrious and generous woman
“I sincerely wish to thank everyone that contributed in one way or the other and still stayed with us throughout this funeral. I pray that God will reward them accordingly and lead them back home safely to meet with their loved ones”, she concluded.
Chairman of Diamond Social Club of Nigeria, Mr Anthony Otija, on behalf of his members, extended their heartfelt condolence to Johnmark Ezenwa, also known as Alhaji Galadima, who is their member, adding that even though death is inevitable, there shall not be untimely death in their midst, but numerous celebrations of life with greater achievements.
Other groups present during the funeral were business associates, co-tenants and neighbours from Onitsha and beyond, including Ugochukwu Aniukwu, among other friends and well-wishers.
