….. Orumba North To Host Idemmili South Today
The maiden edition of the BrainBox Football League amongst the 21 local government areas of Anambra State including National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, team has continued to enliven Awka, the state capital.
Orumba North team and their Idemili South counterparts will take their turn at the astro turf of Awka City Stadium.
The thriller comes up at 12noon just before the NLO Playoff in what’s seen as festival of football in the state that’s now becoming ‘football destination’ of the country, thanks to the leadership of Anambra Football Association headed by ex-international, Chikelue ‘General’ Iloenyosi.
On Wednesday, Peter Obinna’s inexplicable desire for self glory cost Ekwusigo LGA dearly as they settled for a scoreless draw versus Anambra East.
Certainly, Obinna will have himself to blame for the result if and when he watches a play-back of the ‘box-to-box’ thriller.
In a swift counter attacking football, Obinna broke down the Anambra East area, ghosting any defender in sight.
Inside the area, he dribbled the goalkeeper, left him ‘leisurely sleeping’ on the turf.
But with three sky blue shirts already inside the six yard box for Obinna to square the ball to for an easy tap-in, he chose to drill in on the near post where a frantically cleared the ball from the goal line. That was the last,kick of the game as the referee sounded the final whistle.
