Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Awka will in no distant time experience a change in the form of dynamic, efficient and seamless financial operations and transactions as part the change in the “Project 200” vision of the present administration.

This disclosure was made by the University Bursar, Mr. Godwin Egwuatu during an interview with reporters at his office.

Mr Egwuatu emphasized that efficient financial operations and management is key for any organization and firm seeking to achieve sustainable growth and willing to achieve her set goals.

The chief financial officer of the institution who assumed duty on 20th May 2022 as the fifth substantive bursar of the institution stated that in his inaugural speech, part of his mission was to ensure proper financial management in line with global best practices as well as ensuring that he does not impede progress.

“In my Inaugural speech when I took over, I told my staff that I am here for service as the Bursary is a service unit and very important sector in the institution”,

“The oil of the system is funding and financial management is key as I want to be remembered after my tenure as someone who did not impede progress to make sure that things are facilitated, possibilities opened up and people would look at what is available and make the best out of it”, he said.

Mr Egwuatu disclosed that the Bursary Unit is endowed with people with immense potentials while also promising that he will empower a lot of people via trainings so that they can discover their potentials and add real value to the growth of the bursary unit and the institution at large.

He also highlighted that motivation is also a key variable towards getting the best out of workers of any organization as it is crucial to achieving success as a manager.

“In every organization, motivation is key to achieving success and attaining goals. If you motivate people and they understand what they are supposed to do, you as the manager will have less to do”,

“Just like an agriculturist, if you plant a crop and it grows successfully, it gives joy and strength as well as confidence to try out new things that will enhance greater yield. I will ensure that when people come into the Bursary unit, they go out served that will be my joy,” he said.

The bursar stated that although adequate funding is a challenge with limited cash available, he is looking inward and looking for every opportunity to increase the institution’s revenue by setting up outfits and increasing the network of individuals in the system while also cutting down cost where necessary and enhancing other avenues.
