Bayelsa Queens stops Falcons from Flying

Bayelsa Queens continued her impressive form as they held the Super Falcons to a 1-1 draw at the training pitch of the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

For the first ten minutes of the encounter, the Super Falcons showed why they are African champion as they run riots in the half of Bayelsa Queens.

After that, Bayelsa Queens FC showed why they are the champion of the NWFL Premiership as they put up a good showing to the admiration of the spectators.

Bayelsa Queens Aderemi Mary scored for the Prosperity Girls in the 16 minutes of play, the goal came as a result of their high pressing which caused the Super Falcons defence into mistakes. The first half ended one-nil.

On resumption of the second half, the Super Falcons started well and would have scored in the 47 and 49 minutes through Asisat Oshoala and Rashidat Anibade, but for the heroics of Bayelsa Queens goalkeeper, Oyinyechukwu Okeke.

The NWFL Premiership Champions held on until the 90 minutes when Onome Ebi equalized with a powerful header from a corner kick to end the game 1-1.

Bayelsa Queens Coach Moses Aduku, said it was a good test for his team as they prepares for the upcoming WAFU B CAF Champions League and AITEO CUP competitions and added that his players ability to listen to the coaches instructions showed they are ready to represent Nigeria at the continent.

Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum, said Bayelsa Queens are the best club side in Nigeria and that they gave the Falcons a good parting gift as the team is leaving for Morocco today (Friday) to defend their title.

Bayelsa Queens will tomorrow (Saturday) play another friendly match with Nasarawa Amazons, before leaving back to their base.
