President of Ahudiyannem Football Club, Chief Dr. Robert Onyeani, has charged Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingoes, to go all the way and win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
The Flamingoes booked a place in their first-ever final on Wednesday night after a historic 3-1 victory over Brazil, and Onyeani said the team must now finish the job by lifting the trophy.
Congratulating the players and technical crew, he said their discipline, composure in front of goal and tactical approach against a big football nation like Brazil showed they have what it takes to become world champions.
He described the girls as worthy ambassadors of the country and urged them to stay focused, disciplined and fearless in the final.
According to him, reaching the final is a great achievement, but winning the tournament would cement their place in history and inspire a new generation of young female footballers in Nigeria.
” My advice to the team is that they should remain focused and not be carried away by the victory but to go all out and win the trophy for the first time.and make Nigerians proud
” I also want them to realise that Japan is not a push over in female football and as such should approach the final match on Saturday with all seriousness it deserves, and I can assure them that victory will be theirs”, concludes his statement.
