As the green-white-green flies across the nation for the 66th Independence anniversary, the Chairman of the Board of NNPC Limited, Engineer Ahmadu Musa Kida, says Nigeria’s independence promise of self-determination and national prosperity built by Nigerians for Nigerians is still being pursued.
Kida, in his Independence Day message, said NNPC Limited is working daily to fulfil that promise, noting that every barrel of crude produced, every cubic foot of gas supplied, every naira remitted to government and every Nigerian employed in its operations represents a step towards the energy-secure and prosperous nation envisioned by the founding fathers.
He disclosed that the 2025 financial year marked a turning point for the company, with Profit After Tax rising to N7.2 trillion from N5.4 trillion in the previous year, while revenue hit N34.5 trillion.
According to him, remittances to the Federal Government, including taxes, royalties and statutory payments, increased to N22.3 trillion from N16.0 trillion, demonstrating the company’s role as a pillar of fiscal stability.
Kida attributed the record performance to the leadership of the Group Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari, other executives and the Board overseeing Upstream, Downstream, and Gas, Power and New Energy portfolios.
He said crude oil production peaked at 1.77 million barrels per day, a five-year high, while gas supply reached 7.2 billion standard cubic feet per day, a three-year high that positions Nigeria to meet domestic obligations and its potential as a global supplier.
The chairman added that pipeline availability had improved significantly, with reconciliation factors of about 90 percent between production and terminal delivery, compared to less than 10 percent previously on some routes, achieved through community surveillance and coordinated security operations.
He said the company has sustained crude supply to local refineries under an innovative dual-currency arrangement aimed at stabilising fuel supply, retaining value and creating jobs locally.
Kida congratulated Nigerians at home and in the diaspora and commended the management and staff of NNPC Limited, reaffirming the Board’s commitment to greater service to the nation.
