After 20 years of anguish and fruitless search for their missing daughter, the family of Late Chief Augustine Nwosu Maduka of Umuru Village, Ebenesi, Nnobi in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has announced plans to hold a burial ceremony for Miss Nneka Nwosu.
Nneka, who was 22 years old at the time, reportedly left home on December 31, 2006, and never returned. Her whereabouts have remained unknown despite years of search and appeals by her family.
For two decades, the family held on to the hope that she would return, bringing an end to their prolonged agony and uncertainty.
However, following years without any trace of her, the family said it has decided to conduct a burial in her absence, in line with traditional and spiritual obligations.
According to the funeral programme, activities will commence with a Vigil Mass on Friday, November 27, 2026, at 5 p.m. at the family compound of Late Chief Augustine Nwosu, Umuru, Ebenesi, Nnobi.
The Funeral Mass will hold on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at the same venue by 10 a.m., while Thanksgiving and Outing Mass is scheduled for Sunday, November 29, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Umuru, Ebenato, Ebenesi, Nnobi, also by 10 a.m.
The announcement was jointly signed on behalf of the family by Messrs Chukwudi Nwosu, Azubuike Nwosu, Okwudili Nwosu, Obinna Nwosu and Oliver Nwosu.
The ceremony marks a painful close to two decades of waiting and hoping for the return of their beloved daughter.
