The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council, will celebrate its 35th anniversary with the 2026 Man of the Year Awards and Press Week Grand Finale on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
The event, themed “Anambra NUJ, 35 Years On Reporting With Truth, Responsibility And Service… But…” will hold at 10:00am at Anabelle Event Center, along Onitsha-Enugu Expressway, Agu Awka, opposite Government House, Awka.
Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, will attend as Special Guest of Honour. National President of NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahya, is expected as Chief Host, while the 2025 NUJ Anambra Man of the Year, Arc. Okey Ezeobi, will also be honoured.
Chairman of NUJ Anambra State Council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, will host the event. The Chairman of the Planning Committee is Comrade Francis Ekpone.
The Keynote Speaker is the Right Reverend Dr. Ephraim Ikeakor, Bishop, Anglican Diocese of Amichi. The Chairman of the Occasion will be Dr. Churchill Uzonwoso Okongwu.
Royal Mother of the Day is Her Majesty, Mrs. Ngozi Ebele Okwunna, from Ogwuaniocha, Anambra West LGA. Royal Father of the Day is HRM Igwe Christopher Ezenwa.
Other dignitaries expected include Hon. Law Mefor, Commissioner for Information, Anambra State, as Guest, and Veteran Editor, Victor Agusiobo, as Guest Speaker
A major highlight of the grand finale will be the presentation of the Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna Ethics Award.
The Council said the celebration will reflect on 35 years of journalism practice in Anambra, while reaffirming commitment to truth, responsibility and service in media reporting.
Members of the public and stakeholders in the media industry are invited to attend.
