Enyimba FC Chairman and FIFA Ambassador, Kanu Nwankwo, has strengthened the club’s grassroots partnerships with two Abia-based academies as part of efforts to expand youth football development in the state.
The People’s Elephant hosted Diamond FA and Forster Academy in separate novelty matches in Umuahia. The games were designed to solidify collaboration between Enyimba and the academies on player development.
President of Diamond FA, Ikechukwu Apugo, commended Kanu’s leadership at Enyimba and expressed support for the current management to take the club to greater heights. He described the partnership as a step toward building a stronger pathway for young players in Abia.

President of Forster Academy, Victor Apugo, also pledged backing for Kanu’s administration and praised Enyimba’s role in producing top talents for Nigerian and international football.
As part of the engagements, Kanu presented his original Super Eagles jersey to both Diamond FA and Forster Academy as memorabilia.
Enyimba management said the collaborations align with the club’s commitment to youth development and to leveraging its status as Nigeria’s most decorated club to support grassroots football.
The club expects the partnerships to provide more opportunities for young players to transition into professional football.
