Deputy Inspector-General Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, who oversees the South-East zone, led a security stakeholders’ meeting in Anambra yesterday on behalf of IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The session is part of a nationwide push by the IGP to tackle security issues zone by zone. In Anambra, the focus was clear: get police, vigilantes, government, traditional rulers, community leaders, transporters, journalists, civil society, and the Northern Community talking with one voice.

DIG Onwuemelie said no agency can police effectively alone. He urged everyone to step up with timely information and back community-led security efforts.

After the meeting, the DIG paid a courtesy visit to HRM Igwe Gibson Nwosu, Eze Uzu II of Awka. He described traditional rulers as vital partners for peace, conflict resolution, and grassroots intelligence.

Igwe Nwosu welcomed the visit and commended security agencies for their work. He assured the Police of the palace’s full support to keep Awka and Anambra safe.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Anambra Police PRO, said the Command will keep building these partnerships to protect lives and property across the state.
