The Anambra State Police Command is gearing up for the November 8 governorship election, with the assurance that the Anambra state Police command is well-prepared to ensure a peaceful and successful process.

The assurance was given by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga while speaking exclusively to Newspathfinder in Awka recently.

According to Ikenga, the command has an operational order guiding the election, and a thorough threat analysis has been conducted.

“We are ready for the upcoming elections now, specifically on November 8, 2025. For us, election is a very big project and we don’t treat it with kid gloves. We understand how important the election is, which is why we are taking care to monitor the processes”, he said

Ikenga revealed that the police will not be working alone, as other security agencies, including the Civil Defense, Immigration, and the Military, will also be deployed to strategic locations.

The police spokesperson emphasized that the success of the election doesn’t depend on the number of personnel deployed, but rather on strategic deployment to ensure that key areas are well-covered. “We don’t have anything to fear because most of our fears have been taken care of. So many criminal gangs have been destroyed,” Ikenga stated.

“If you go round the state now you’ll see the level of deployment that the police has done because we are not looking at the election alone we are also looking at safety of Ndi Anambra on or before the election and if you have been following the trend of what we have been doing you’ll understand that Anambra is not the way it used to be before”,

“There is a level of security dominance in the state in terms of feasibility policing and what I call more of covert police operatives that are deployed in strategic places to give us information and I also want to commend Ndi Anambra for their cooperation because from what we have observed the win that we have today still goes back to them in joining the security agencies in condemning what is wrong. It is in that regard that we are very sure that this election will come out successful”, he said

The command recently interacted with various stakeholders from different sectors including the media, persons living with disability, discussing roles and inclusion in the electoral process.
