Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Carol Arinze Umobi formally assumes office after a handover ceremony this morning at the University Administration building.
Professor Arinze-Umobi received handover notes from the outgoing Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Ikechebelu.
The erudite family lawyer who is on a second missionary journey will pilot the affairs of the university in the next six months.
It will be recalled that the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University appointed Professor Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi as Acting Vice-Chancellor following the end of tenure of Professor Joseph I. Ikechebelu.
In a letter signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Barrister Olugbenga M. Kukoyi, it reads “By virtue of Section 5(13) of the Act, your term of appointment shall not exceed a maximum period of six (6) months, or until a substantive Vice-Chancellor is appointed, whichever comes first”.
Senate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University on Friday nominated through election three Professors (Prof. Au Nkemdilim Nonyelu, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umeobi and Prof. Ada Sam-Omenyi) as possible replacement for the outgoing Acting Vice Chancellor.
