High-flying Ahudiyannem Queens will put their perfect record on the line when they face Rivers Angels in Matchday 4 of the 2nd Governor Douye Diri Women Pre-Season Football Tournament in Yenagoa on Thursday.
The encounter, slated for 3:00 PM WAT at the Samson Siasia Stadium, promises to be the Queens’ toughest test yet in the competition.
The girls will head into the fixture in red-hot form, having maintained a flawless run in Group B. The Queens thrashed Rangers International Women 3-0 on Matchday 3, with Owoeye Temitope striking twice in the 4th and 24th minutes before Victory Numa sealed the emphatic win in the 75th minute.
That victory was their third in three matches, following their thrilling 2-1 comeback win over Remo Stars Ladies on Matchday 2. With 9 points from 3 games, 6 goals scored and just 1 conceded, Ahudiyannem Queens sit comfortably top of Group B with a +5 goal difference, ahead of Remo Stars Ladies (2 points), Nasarawa Amazons (1 point) and Rangers Women (1 point).
Thursday’s opponents, Rivers Angels, will provide a different level of challenge as one of the powerhouses of Nigerian women’s football.
Ahead of the clash, the Head Coach, Adanna Nwaneri urged the players to stay focused, fearless and disciplined, stressing that the team is fully ready, mentally and physically, to battle for another positive result.
The technical crew is expected to use the high-profile encounter to further test new combinations and consolidate cohesion ahead of the new Nigeria Women Football League season.
