The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Anambra Man of the Year, 2024, Dr. Chinedu Umeadi has commended the NUJ, Anambra State Council for living up to expectations as the watchdog of the society.

Speaking to the journalists who paid him a courtesy visit at his country home in Abagana, Njikoka Area Council of Anambra State, Dr. Umeadi expressed gratitude to the State Council of NUJ for finding him worthy for the award, which he described as not only prestigious but a distinguished award that demonstrated the recognition of his contributions at home and in the diaspora.

As a former Senatorial aspirant for Anambra Central Senatorial District, a philanthropist, and an accomplished medical practitioner, Dr. Umeadi assured the NUJ, Anambra State Council of his continuous support for their programmes.

“I was duly informed about the award, but was unavoidably absent. Journalists are playing great roles in creating awareness of events in the society. I will always assist the NUJ in carrying out their watchdog role in the society”, Dr. Umeadi opined.

Earlier in his opening remark, the Chairman, NUJ Anambra State Council, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu stated that the Union came to interact with the NUJ Man of the Year, who was out of the country at the time of the event.

While commending him for mobilizing a massive delegation to represent him at the event, Dr. Odogwu also appreciated Dr. Umeadi for his numerous people oriented initiatives that are laying positive foundations in the lives of the youths, urging him to lay a memorable impact in his reign.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the NUJ Anambra Press Week, 2024, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna, who is also the NUJ Anambra State Council Matriarch congratulated Dr. Umeadi for emerging the NUJ Anambra Man of the Year out of a plethora of other outstanding candidates nominated. She observed that Dr. Umeadi is well recognised by his people and urged him to keep up the good works that have brought him to limelight.

While assuring the Man of the Year of their readiness to work with him, the planning committee chairman of the NUJ Press Week, 2024, Dr. Njide Ezeonyejiaku, the Chairman, NUJ Electoral Committee, Dr. Stanley Onunkwo and a former State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Francis Ekpone extolled Dr. Umeadi for his efforts in building a better society and enjoined him to maintain a symbiotic relationship with the NUJ.
