The Anambra State Police Command said it has uncovered the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and murder of a 33-year-old woman in Oraifite.

According to a press statement signed by the state PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga the command arrested two suspects in connection with the crime.

The statement informed that the case began on March 13, 2026, when the victim’s mother reported her missing at Oraifite Divisional Police Headquarters. Her body was found the next day inside a culvert near Jesus Bus Stop, Oraifite, and was later identified by her father.

After the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka where detectives used intelligence and digital forensic leads to track and arrest the suspects on June 6, 2026.

The suspects are Thankgod Ikechukwu Ikwugwara, 26, and Makuochukwu Uzoigwe, 20.

The statement further revealed that during interrogation, Ikwugwara confessed he had a three-year relationship with the deceased and lured her to his residence on March 13 under the guise of illness.

He said that he and Uzoigwe attacked her with a machete after a disagreement involving her husband, then dumped her body in the culvert in the early hours of March 14.

Both suspects have confessed and will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.

CP Ikioye Orutugu commended the detectives for their resilience and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to justice for victims of crime, according to PPRO SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
