As the much expected Gombe Inter-secondary School Athletics Championships commence on Tuesday at the Pantani Stadium, sponsor of the event Hon. Amend Shuaibu Gara Gombe has said his passion for sports sponsorship is not self-centred
He said it while addressing Journalist’s at a World Press Conference to herald the 5-day Championship in Gombe on Monday.
“My sports sponsorship is borne out interest and not personal gains .
I began helping those in sports when I was Young. I played football, not at Professional level, my passion to assist young and talented sports talents excel is totally and truthfully based on national interest”.
The overcrowded press conference was also attended by athletes cum football stakeholders as draws for the principal Cup matches which runs alongside the athletics Championships was made.
The football trophies and athletics medals were also unveiled at the conference.
Many activities has been lined up for the opening ceremony on Tuesday which also include entertainment based traditional cultural display of all kinds.
To this end, stakeholders commended Hon.Gombe for his loyalty to Gombe State in attracting and hosting the Championship in the State
