Enyimba Chief Coach, Yemi Olanrewaju has said that he is satisfied with the performances of his boys at the Coal City Cup held in Enugu

Coach Olanrewaju who spoke to Newspathfinder in Enugu said that the tournament was an opportunity to assess his players.

“The tournament is very important to us, in fact for me especially to be able to assess the players because this new season we have 21 new players and we just resumed two weeks ago so I decided to participate to see the level of our preparations. For me I think I am impressed by what we have done so far”.

“It is important that we participated in the tournament so that we see all the mistakes, so that all the mistakes can be corrected. That is the essence of preseason not perfection”.

“We now know that we need to do more in defending set pieces. You know, if you don’t see all these things in a tournament like this, you think you are fine then season starts and you start making the same mistakes. So this tournament is really important for me and for us and I have gotten what I wanted to see”.

On the avalanche of new players in a season the team is in the continent, coach Olanrewaju expressed confidence in his team believing the team has what it takes to make a mark.

“You could see the way we played, didn’t you see harmonization in our team? When we played Rangers we dominated all through and we did the same against 3SC. That shows that we’re making progress. What’s left for us I think is to transition in the last part, we need to create more chances and score more goals besides that I think we’re making huge progress and the integration is working”.

“Honestly speaking this tournament is good because if you look at the type of teams that participated, you have top four clubs in the league so that means it is competitive. What Rangers and Shooting Stars gave us honestly is a good assessment. For my team it shows me where we are and the level of our fitness”.
