Ex-Iternational and Enyimba FC Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme has been commended for his effort towards grassroots football development.
A major football stakeholder in Nigeria and Imo State Football Association Chairman, Barr Ifeanyi Dike made the commendation shortly after taking the official ceremonial kick off of the maiden edition of the Nwankwo Kanu U-19 Inter State football tourney in Owerri centre on Tuesday.
Barr Dike lauded the spirited efforts of the former Super Eagles winger who also played professional football in Poland during his hey days saying that his administration as Imo FA Boss will always welcome such individuals and cooperate organisations as they aim to revive grassroots football in the state.
Meanwhile, Campos FC U-19 team in the opening encounter decided at the Dan Anyiam Stadium training pitch humbled Shine FC U-19 team to state their intentions in the tournament.
Two brilliant goals in each half from Ogba Ugochukwu was all the Owerri based Academy needed to exert their superiority over the Emii in Owerri North based Academy.
Action continued today in both centres, Aba and Owerri with Miracle FC taking on Level Academy by 2pm while Person FA squared up against Ngwa United by 4pm at the Ngwa High School field on Aba-Owerri road, Abayi.
In Owerri, Papilo FC will engage Danish FA by 4pm just as Ikukuoma FC entertains Zachariassen FC on Thursday by 4pm.
