PCRC FCT Chapter Rolls Out Safe School Initiative, BOOSTAR Data Exercise

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP AHMED Sanusi has pledged the support of the Command towards the successful implementation of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) FCT Safe Schools Initiative and the National PCRC Safe Schools Data Capturing Exercise, BOOSTAR.

The Commissioner made the commitment during the official flag-off and unveiling of the initiative held at the FCT Command, Abuja on Thursday 27th August, 2026.

Speaking during the event, the Commissioner of Police assured the PCRC of adequate manpower support to ensure the success of the exercise, which is aimed at strengthening security collaboration between the Police, schools, and the communities.

The initiative, which involves the use of the BOOSTAR App (Boost Alert and Response), is designed to enhance effective data collection, security monitoring, and rapid response mechanisms across schools and the community of the Federal Capital Territory.

The PCRC National Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, who was also present at the flag-off, gave an overview of the responsibilities of PCRC members in supporting community policing initiatives. He disclosed that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, had directed PCRC members to intensify their engagements on the roads and strengthen the partnership between the Police, schools, and communities.

He further emphasized that the Safe Schools Initiative, being a key project of the Inspector General of Police, would receive maximum commitment and attention from the PCRC.

Chief Dr. Rufus Edegna, Chairman, FCT Safe School Chairman welcome everyone to the event and stated that the FCT PCRC is committed to ensuring that peace, security is returned to the school so that the children that freely study with no fear of attack or other criminal vices. Mr. NDAGI Mohammed also gave his outmost commitment in ensuring that he coordinators his Divisional Coordinator to the successful actualisation of the Safe School and School Data Capturing Exercise using BOOSTAR. He said that the PCRC FCT Safe Schools Project is expected to contribute significantly towards creating safer and more secure learning environments across the Federal Capital Territory through improved intelligence gathering, community engagement, and proactive security measures.

Also speaking at the event, the PCRC National Technical Director, Dr. Benson Olatunji, provided an overview of the project, highlighting its objectives, operational framework, and expected impact on school safety.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, the President of the Principals and Proprietors Association of Nigeria, the Head of Private School Owners of Nigeria, officials from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), PCRC Divisional Coordinators, Members of PCRC FCT Chapter, the media, among others.

The PCRC Divisional Coordinators are expected to work closely with Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the FCT to capture relevant school data and strengthen security coordination within their respective areas.

The programme is focused on improving safety of our children in the school and it’s environs as well as safety and security measures in schools through stronger collaboration among the Nigeria Police Force, PCRC, schools, parents and the communities where the school s are located.
