As Muslims across the globe marked the joyous occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the Scribe of the World Olympians Association, Olumide Oyedeji, has called on sportsmen and women worldwide to embrace the spirit of unity, peace, and celebration that defines the festival.

In his goodwill message, Oyedeji congratulated Muslim athletes and faithful on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, urging them to carry forward the values of discipline, sacrifice, and perseverance into their sporting and daily lives.

He emphasized that Eid-el-Fitr is not only a time for celebration but also a moment for reflection, compassion, and togetherness, qualities he described as essential both on and off the field of play.

The former Olympian noted that sports remain a powerful tool for uniting people across cultural, religious, and national divides, stressing that the global sporting community must continue to stand as one despite differences.

“Eid reminds us of the importance of unity, love, and mutual respect. These are the same values that define the Olympic movement and sportsmanship across the world,” Oyedeji stated.

He encouraged athletes to take time to celebrate with family and loved ones while also remaining committed to fostering peace and solidarity within their various sporting communities.

Oyedeji further urged sports stakeholders to use the festive period to strengthen bonds and promote inclusivity, adding that the message of Eid aligns with the broader ideals of global harmony championed by the Olympic family.

As the celebrations continue, he reaffirmed the commitment of the World Olympians Association to promoting unity and supporting athletes worldwide, regardless of background or belief.

Eid-el-Fitr, observed at the end of Ramadan, is celebrated by millions of Muslims globally with prayers, feasting, and acts of charity, symbolizing gratitude, renewal, and communal harmony.
