The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has awarded Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo a Certificate of Return, confirming his victory in the November 8, 2025, Governorship Election.

Representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Soludo garnered 422,664 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 99,445 votes. The Young Progressives Party candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, trailed behind with 37,753 votes.

Soludo’s landslide victory saw him clinch all 21 local government areas in the state. Out of 595,298 total votes cast, Soludo’s margin of victory underscored the confidence of the Anambra people in his leadership. This win cements Soludo’s position as Governor for another four-year term, pending any potential legal challenges.

Presenting the certificate of return to him today at INEC State Office Awka, the Supervising National Commissioner and Chairman Tenders Board Committee, Dr Ken Ukeagu said the election was like no other in the history of Anambra state, which ostensibly demonstrated the commission’s resolute to deliver election that reflects the will of the people.

He urged Ndi Anambra to join hands with the governor and deputy in building a more prosperous Anambra state where the enterprising spirits of the locals would continue to thrive.

Ukeagu, flanked by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Queen Elizabeth Agwu, said, “We are here to present the certificates of return to the Governor and Deputy Governor of Anambra State, following their successful outing during the state governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

“Section 72(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 mandates the Independent National Electoral Commission to issue a certificate of return within 14 days to every candidate who has been duly returned by the returning officer under the Act.”

Responding, the re-elected Governor, Prof Soludo told Ndi Anambra that his second term administration will be better than the former.

He noted that this election is very special because it was conducted under a new INEC Chairman, Prof Joash Amupitan and he won with 73% of the valid votes cast.

According to him, this was the third time, a sitting governor of Anambra state was re-elected after Peter Obi in 2010, Willie Obiano in 2017 and him in 2025.

Governor Soludo appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring that people’s votes were counted while applauding INEC for making the country’s electoral process to become better by the day.

“The technology worked perfectly. Ninety nine percent of the collated results were uploaded on IRev portals in real time and we had all the results in the evening on their phones. INEC deserves better credit.

“We will never disappoint you or let you down. I thank you for the trust to return me as their governor. I will continue to work 24/7 to make you happy,” he concluded.

Soludo was accompanied by his deputy, Dr Onyekachi Ibezim and their spouses to the INEC headquarters Awka, with other aides and supporters.
