Nasarawa United coach Mangut Mbwas has praised his team’s resilience and tactical execution after securing a win against Bayelsa United in a tightly contested Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) MatchDay5 encounter.

The game was played on a water-logged field due to heavy downpour, making conditions challenging for both teams.

Coach Mbwas attributed the win to his team’s game plan, which aimed to frustrate Bayelsa United’s gameplay commending his players for their determination and resilience.

“It was a very tight game based on the condition of the field as it was water-logged due to a heavy downpour. We conceded through an error, but we played our way back and got what we worked for”,

“After losing their last home game, Bayelsa United were more under pressure in today’s game. So, we came up with a game plan to frustrate them more, and it worked for us”,

“I give credit to my boys for being able to get the job done, without sounding disrespectful to the Bayelsa United’s side, because they gave their all, but unfortunately couldn’t get any positive result”,

“We conceded through an error, but we played our way back and got what we worked Bayelsa United had been under pressure after losing their last home game, but they put up a good fight despite the unfavorable outcome”, he said

The Solid Miners in a nail-biting tie secured a hard-fought 1-2 victory after coming from behind to scoop all three points off their hosts, Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa on Sunday.

Jawad Mustapha headed the home side into the lead in the 36th minute before Ekeson Okorie drew the Solid Miners on level terms at the nick of halftime.

It was Nasarawa United who doubled their lead in the 89th minute through substitute, Victor Onovuke.

Sunday’s result sees the Solid Miners accelerating to the second position on the league table with ten points, just one point shy of table-toppers, Enyimba FC of Aba, who beat Bendel Insurance 3-2 at home.

Nasarawa United will return home where they will host Katsina United FC on match-day six, on Sunday, next week.
