Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Rivers State Chapter has commended Team Rivers for their exceptional and impressive performance during just concluded 22nd National Sports Festival, held in Ogun State.

In a Press Release signed by the chairman Mr Cyril Dum Wite and secretary Mr Tonye Orabere, the association noted that the commitment, dedication and teamwork of the contingent have made a significant impact that yielded the good performance which placed Rivers state fourth on the medal table with a total of 199 medals, 76 gold, 58 silver and 65 bronze.

“SWAN Rivers State used this medium to extend its commendation to the director of administration ministry of sports in the State, Mrs Ibiwari Wokoma, who is the acting Permanent Secretary for her commitment and contributions in all ramification towards achieving the feat.”

“We equally applauded the State government for its pragmatic approach towards developing young sports men and women, hence the release of funds for camping and attend the festival on time.”

The association however called on both athletes and coaches not to relent but continue to make the State proud by improving themselves through adequate training.
