The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has christened the new Government House Mini City “Light House Awka,” in line with the state’s “Light of the Nation” slogan. This decision was taken at the 10th ANSEC meeting held on June 2, 2025.
Other key decisions made at the meeting include:
– Restoration of Anambra’s societal, moral, and social structures
– Establishment of the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ASERC)
– Crackdown on child begging, with premises used for holding child beggars to be sealed and confiscated
The council also approved several projects, including:
– Construction of a factory warehouse for processing pharmaceutical-grade kaolin
– Extension of Nnewi Industrial line and supply of a 750 KVA transformer
– Procurement and supply of official uniforms and operational gears to Ocha Brigade
The naming of the Government House Mini City as “Light House Awka” is seen as a significant step in branding the state’s administrative hub.
