Prof. Obidimma Emerges New Provost, College Of Postgraduate Studies Nnamdi Azikiwe University

Prof. Emmanuel Chukwudebere Obidimma has emerged as the new Provost of the College of the Postgraduate Studies (CPGS), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Prof. Obidimma emerged as the new Provost of the CPGS during the 230th Senate meeting of the University held on Wednesday, 26th February, 2025 at the University Auditorium.

Prof. Obidimma from the Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, UNIZIK, polled a total of 164 votes to defeat Prof. Stanley Chidi Udedi of the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Biosciences, UNIZIK, who polled a total of 146 votes.

Prof. Onyenmechi Johnson Afonne of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, UNIZIK, polled 83 votes and Prof. Felix Afamefuna Onyegbule of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UNIZIK, polled 8 votes to place third and fourth respectively.

Before emerging as the new sheriff of the CPGS, Prof. Obidimma was the Deputy Provost (Humanities) of the CPGS. The scholar is expected to take over from the current Provost, Engr. Prof. Philomena Igbokwe whose tenure will come to an end on March 31st, 2025.
