As the People’s Elephant march into Ilorin for a high-stakes clash against Kwara United on Monday, January 27th, 2024, Enyimba FC Head Coach Stanley Eguma is calling for a tactical reset to reignite their NPFL campaign.

Coming off a disappointing result in Kano, Eguma believes his side has the mettle to secure a crucial victory at the Ilorin Township Stadium in this rescheduled match day 16 encounter.

For a team accustomed to dominance, Enyimba’s recent run has been uncharacteristic. But the former Rivers United tactician remains unflinchingly optimistic, emphasizing the importance of adapting strategies to secure maximum points.

Speaking to Enyimba Media, Coach Eguma laid bare his blueprint for Monday’s showdown.

“Yeah, it’s a different ball game. We are going to map out a different strategy,” Eguma revealed with calm determination.

“It’s an important game, three points are at stake. We cannot give up now. We will work hard and correct our mistakes so we can come out better with a positive result.

This fixture comes amid a grueling schedule, with Enyimba set to play six matches in just 12 days, including a high-octane Oriental derby against Heartland FC to kick off the second stanza. Yet, Eguma is undeterred, insisting his squad has what it takes to rise above the challenges.

The seasoned tactician acknowledged the gradual process of blending his philosophy with the team’s dynamics since taking over the reins. “I’m working on the team. I just joined the team, and with time we will get better*,

“They are still studying and trying to understand my style and philosophy. The players aren’t bad, but there are areas we really need to work on for better results.”

A positive result in Ilorin could be the much-needed spark to ignite Enyimba’s campaign, signaling their intent to compete fiercely in the second stanza. Kwara United, however, will be no walkover, as they too are seeking vital points to improve their standing.

All eyes will be on the Ilorin Township Stadium at 4 pm on Monday, as Eguma’s recharged squad aims to showcase the grit, resilience, and tactical ingenuity that have defined Enyimba’s legacy.

The journey to redemption starts now, and the People’s Elephant knows there’s no room for error.
