African Action Congress, Anambra State Chapter has raised the issue of insecurity in the state as worrisome to Ndi Anambra.

Speaking through the chairperson, Comrade Chioma Grace lfemeludike,  the party said the state government declared a state of emergency, which seems to be like political statement or lip service, inability to effect any obvious change in securing lives of Ndi Anambra as their responsibility.

” In recent times, villages and communities in Anambra State have been ransacked and invaded by what we know as unknown gunmen, faceless men who have terrorised, oppressed, kidnapped, and in most cases, murdered innocent citizens in cold blood”,

“These men of the underworld have caused mayhem, pain and suffering to the physical, financial and emotional well-being of the good, hardworking and law abiding citizens of the state. The menace is suffocating and almost crippling business activities in the state,” she concluded.”

She added that it has gotten so bad that people now avoid to travel or disguise when they need to visit home, noting that it is totally unacceptable, and that in less than four weeks, prominent citezens, clergy men and women, average residents fell victims in the hands of kidnappers and organ harvesters, which sounds like an era of cannibalism introduced in communties and everyone goes about their everyday lives tearfully like human lives don’t matter.

She called on Ndi Anambra to wake up, organise and speak with one voice against this evil ravaging the land.

The party therefore called on police authorities, the Inspector General of Police (lGP), Kayode Egbetokun and the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, to call their men to order, ensure their welfare is provided, salaries and incentives are increased to avoid irresponsible behaviours on highways, illegal demanding and collecting of money from public transport drivers in the state.

The chairperson urged the Anambra State Government to take charge and be proactive with matters that affect security of lives in the state as the bedrock of commercial activities, growth and development, adding that the mental and psychological state of Ndị Anambra are of utmost interest.

She noted that the group will use every tool available, both the social media and street protests to engage the authorities if the abnormality continues.

Ifemeludike said the youth had become victims in the country, and that most of the girls are now intersted in selling their bodies and they have been left stranded and confused.

“That is why African Action Congress is investing in the youth and it is the only vehicle that will drive the youth to their destination. The youth need to be empowered, educated and loved but the foundation laid by our leaders are frustrating them. They need to be carried along.”

In their separate speeches, the secretary of the party, Nnaji Henry Chinonso, state elder, Chief Michael Obiozor Anaenugwu, state organiser, Hon.Okoye Pascal Chukwuebuka, state treasurer, Comrade Osinaomumu, state woman leader, Mrs Efobi Juliet lfeyinwa, pleaded with the governor of the state, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo and the Inspector General of Police, to take the responsibility of security in the the state.
