Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has declared interest to contest the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra state under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

Prince Ukachukwu said he took the decision to complete the tenure of Anambra South in the Government House.

Speaking on Wednesday, while declaring his interest before the executive of the APC in Anambra State at the party’s secretariat in Awka, Ukachukwu expressed regret that Governor Charles Soludo claims to be working, but unfortunately cannot go home to sleep due to the high level of insecurity.

He said that if elected he would apply street sense to tackle insecurity in the state.

According to him, “Anambra residents can no longer sleep in their homes, and people are refraining from returning to the state for fear of being kidnapped or killed.

“Soludo is working, but unfortunately, he cannot go home and sleep due to the high insecurity in the state. Our people are no longer coming home. If we do not tackle the insecurity in our state, our children may not know their relatives; they might end up marrying their own kin because they are not meeting them.

“If I become governor, I will apply my street sense to tackle the insecurity in the state. I was brought up in a village, and I will use my street sense to handle it. Security issues should not be discussed publicly, but I assure you that Anambra will be secure if I am elected governor,” he said.

He further said that he was ready to do anything to make Anambra work, apart from compromising his life and faith.

While explaining that whatever one cannot achieve in four years, he cannot accomplish in eight years, he recalled that Dr. Chris Ngige transformed the state in three years, with his legacies still visible for all to see.

He pledged to support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate and urged the executive to conduct a credible primary election that will be accepted by all.

“All the people running for the election have what it takes, and we have all achieved something. All I am asking for is a credible primary so that we can go into the election united,” he said.

The APC State Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, in his speech, assured that the party is working to capture the Government House, but can only achieve tha through peace and unity.

He urged the party faithful to work together for the party’s victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
