Gwagwalada Area Council’s U-15 team emerged victorious in the Bocknor U-15 Champion of Champions tournament, held in the Federal Capital Territory. The team defeated Bwari Area Council 3-1 in the thrilling final match at the Area 3 playing pitch.

Bwari took the lead with a 25th-minute goal, but Gwagwalada equalized in the 35th minute of the second half. Two more goals sealed the win for Gwagwalada, earning them the championship title.

Gwagwalada received a cash prize of ₦200,000 and a giant trophy, while Bwari took home ₦100,000.

Barrister Babatunde Akintade (Bocknor), the tournament sponsor, praised the teams’ impressive display of football artistry, stating that Nigeria’s football future lies in the grassroots. He vowed to make future editions more spectacular.

FCT Coaches Association Chairman, Bartholomew David, thanked Bocknor for his support and urged other football enthusiasts to sponsor similar tournaments, nurturing the country’s talented youth.

Gwagwalada qualified for the finals by defeating Kwali and Abaji in the Gwagwalada center, while Bwari eliminated Abuja Municipal Area Council and Kuje in the Bwari Center.

The Bocknor U-15 Champion of Champions Cup brought together the six Area Councils, showcasing the best of FCT’s young football talent.
