The tragic story of Christianah Idowu, a student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has sparked outrage on social media as users demand justice for her brutal murder. Christianah was allegedly kidnapped, killed, and buried by her boyfriend, Adeleye Ayomide, after he collected a ransom from her family.

The disturbing narrative has been trending across platforms like X (formerly Twitter), where users have been sharing details of the incident. According to one X user, @adetejumi, Adeleye, a student of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, was responsible for the abduction and murder of Christianah. He reportedly lured her into his trap, demanded a ransom, and after collecting part of it, proceeded to kill and bury her in his family’s compound in Ikorodu, Lagos.

A History of Violence

The story becomes even more shocking with the revelation that this is not the first time Adeleye has committed such a heinous crime. @adetejumi shared that Adeleye is a serial killer who previously murdered his ex-girlfriend in 2018 and even his own blood sister in 2020. Despite these gruesome acts, his parents allegedly protected him, concealing his crimes. It was only through the courage of his cousins, who secretly informed the authorities, that Adeleye was finally exposed.

The Abduction and Murder

The timeline of Christianah’s abduction began on August 19th, 2024, when she was declared missing after failing to show up at work or return home. Authorities immediately launched an investigation, and significant progress was made, though details were kept under wraps until recently.

Adeleye contacted Christianah’s family, demanding ₦3 million in ransom. Eventually, he reduced the amount to ₦1.5 million. The family, desperate to save their daughter, managed to raise ₦350,000, which they paid into his betting account, as he instructed. Despite the family’s efforts, Adeleye stopped communicating with them after receiving the money. Further investigation revealed that he had been transferring money from Christianah’s bank account into his Wema Bank account.

Authorities traced Adeleye through his BVN, which was linked to his sports betting account. Though he tried to evade capture by using two phones and misleading investigators, security operatives eventually tracked him down to his family house in Ikorodu. Adeleye was arrested, and upon further investigation, he confessed to all his crimes.

A Family’s Dark Secret

Adeleye’s family had long suspected him of being a murderer, particularly after the mysterious deaths of his ex-girlfriend and sister. Despite this, his parents refused to cooperate with the authorities, choosing instead to protect him. It was only when his cousins came forward that Adeleye’s murderous activities were finally brought to light.

Adeleye, now 23 years old, committed his first murder at the age of 17. His gruesome acts have left a trail of devastation, and the public is now demanding that he be held accountable for his actions.

The Call for Justice

Christianah’s tragic death has ignited a wave of anger and sorrow across Nigeria. Social media users are calling for justice, and the case has gained significant attention from both the public and celebrities. Prominent figures have started joining the movement, using their platforms to amplify the calls for justice and to ensure that Christianah’s death will not be in vain.

Conclusion

The murder of Christianah Idowu is a heartbreaking reminder of the violence and cruelty that exist in society. As the investigation continues, the public, along with top celebrities and individuals, is rallying together, demanding justice for Christianah and all those who have fallen victim to such senseless acts. The hope is that, through collective action, justice will be served and Christiana’s family can find some measure of peace in the wake of  this unimaginable tragedy.
