The Ex University Of Ibadan Footballers Association, EXUIFA, has joined the Nigerian Football family to mourn the loss of former Heartland gaffer, late Christian Obi who died in a ghastly motor accident on Friday, 23rd August 2024.

In a statement by the President of the Association, Mr Edwin Evbie, “The death of Coach Christian Obi is indeed a great loss to the entire football fraternity in Nigeria and we send our sincere condolences to Heartland FC and the family the late Coach has left behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this most trying time. We pray his good and gentle soul should rest in peace. ”

Coach Christian Obi died on Friday 23rd August, 2024 after a road accident while en route Abakaliki, Ebonyi State to participate in the TICO/SELECT Ifeanyi Ekwueme Preseason Tournament, when their vehicle had a head on collision with a wrongly parked truck in an attempt to evade another upcoming vehicle.

Until his demise, Obi was a member of the Ex University Of Ibadan Footballers Association (EXUIFA) having graduated from the great citadel of learning in the late 1980s.
