Imo State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon Obinna Onyeocha has promised to work with Sports Writers for the development of the sports industry in the state.
The Commissioner made the assurance when he hosted the leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Imo State Chapter in his office in Owerri on Tuesday.
The meeting which focused on the way forward for sports in the State was an opportunity for the commissioner to meet with the new leadership of the association led by Mr Cosmos Chukwuemeka.
The Commissioner appreciated the peaceful conduct of the SWAN election in Imo State and congratulated Chukwuemeka for his victory assuring him of the readiness of the ministry under his leadership to tap into the experience of sports journalists in the state to move the ministry forward.
The former Sole Administrator of Orlu Local Government Area during the interaction got the views on how to move the industry forward and promised to work with Sports Writers in the state for the development of the sports in the state.
The Chairman of SWAN, Imo State Chapter, Mr Cosmos Chukwuemeka appreciated the Commissioner for the presence of the ministry at the association’s election and promised that Sports Writers in the State will assist in the development of sports in the state and called for more focus on other sports and upgrading of sports facilities in the State.
