All attention will shift to Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, tomorrow, Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 as Edo Queens Football Club host former NWFL Champions Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt in the return leg of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.

Edo Queens sit 4th in Group B, of the abridged league with four victories, one draw, and three defeats from nine games. They will be playing a crucial game of their lives against the visitors from Rivers State in the fight to be among the top six contenders for the NWFL Super 6, coming up later in the year.

Though not in a precarious position, the players must have absolute faith and confidence in themselves believing that they are equally potential champions capable of setting new records against Rivers Angels tomorrow.

Edo Queens suffered devastating 3-0 defeat to Rivers Angels in the first leg, but in this Wednesday’s clash, the Benin-City based giants promised to be on a revenge mission to secure the three maximum points.

Though the team have had a bit of a rough season, only scoring ten goals. It is also important to note that since the 2023/24 season commenced the club has been impressive. But there is need for the Moses Aduku led side to add more bite to their game.

With five more matches to go, they are optimistic that Edo Queens will finish well, as they are well on course to win the remaining five games and possibly end the season with prestigious laurel.

For the teeming home fans at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, they expect their darling Queens to beat Rivers Angels in this reverse fixture, by putting smiles on the faces of the Benin faithful.

However, the girls are physically and mentally ready to prove the critics wrong and also display high quality football prowess that will silence their critics.

The ‘Heart Beat’ residence ladies should expect a tough resistance from the visitors, leaders of Group B who would not want to be dethroned. Edo Queens and Rivers Angels match could possibly be the NWFL Star match of the week.

Despite occupying fourth position on the log in Group B, with 13 points there are chances that the ancient City based ladies will fly the State flag at the yearly Super 6, football fiesta to be played later this year.

After this Wednesday’s epic clash, Edo Queens will also be home to Sunshine Queens of Akure on the 28th of March in NWFL match day 11. Thereafter they would be on their way to Ekiti State to face Ekiti Queens whom they spanked 4-0 in the first leg in Benin.

The Stadium will be full to capacity as top government executives will be on ground to cheer their darling Queens to victory.
