Ngene Village Emerge Ugboogiliga Challenge Cup Winners

Ngene Village on Friday, 5th January 2024 emerged Champions of the Ugboogiliga Challenge Cup.

To achieve this feat they saw off Umueze Village 5-4 on penalty shootouts after ninety minutes of regulation time ended goal less in the grand finale of the competition played at the the Central Primary School (Aguoba) field Amawbia.

The annual Amawbia Town Unity Cup competition which was re-christened Ugboogiliga Challenge Cup is being bankrolled by the Deputy Speaker and member representing Awka South Constituency 2 at the Anambra State House of Assembly (ASHA), Rt. Hon. Chief Chukwuma Okoye (Ozomkpuluobi 1 of Amawbia).

Ngene Village will smile home with a grand prize of N400,000 while Umueze will get N300,000 with Enuoji Village settling for N200,000 after obliterating Ezimezi village 5-1 in the third and fourth place playoffs played earlier in the day.

In the individual awards, Chinanu Nwokoye of Umueze Village claimed the gong of the Best Goalkeeper while the Highest Goalscorer of the competition went to Sunday Ikedia of Ngene Village with two goals.

Present during the finals to represent the sponsor as well as decorating the players with medals and the winning trophy where the Chairman, Adabebe Village, Mr. Emeka Nworah and the Deputy President-General (PG) of the town, Amb. Rotr. Nnamdi Onwuzuligbo.
