Anambra School Sports Festival: Don Bosco, Martha Amabilis Emerge Basketball Champions

Don Bosco Secondary School , Ugwuagba Obosi , Idemili North and Martha Amabilis Girls Secondary School have emerged the overall winners in the Anambra school sports festival, Basketball boys and category held at the Ekwueme square Awka Anambra state on Thursday.

Don Bosco secondary school defeated Bubendoff Memorial school, Adazi-Ani Anaocha local government council 5-4 to come out first in the boys’ category.

Martha Amabillis defeated Dominican Sisters college , Idemili North 7-0 to emerge winner in the girls’ category in the competition.

Speaking to Newspathfinder, the Director Technical, Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Coach Emeka Obidimma commended the performance of the players.

He said he was impressed with the students who showed promising talents throughout the competitions.

According to him, the competition aimed at discovering talents has been successful.

“This competition is to give the boys and girls future in sporting activities,apart from their educational pursuit.
The competition was impressive and the children have exhibited great talents ” he said.

He also stated that despite most of the players in the competitions do not have basketball court,they did well.
He called on schools management to build basketball courts for them to practice and build future in the basketball.
