UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, says he is demanding 100 percent loyalty from all his appointees while in their various positions of authority as Directors, Coordinators, Deputy Directors, Deputy Coordinators and Heads of Departments.

Prof. Esimone made the demand on the occasion of the one-day orientation meeting for all heads of Departments and Departmental ICT officers for the 2022-2023 academic session held at the ASUU NAU Secretariat on Wednesday, May 17th 2023.

Prof. Esimone emphasized that appointments and assignments to the appointees demand loyalty with respect to the services as prescribed in the institution’s law.

“When I talk about loyalty, I mean loyalty with respect to the services that they provide, when I say exams should be carried out on everybody I expect the HODs to be loyal, also in enforcement of registration of courses and payment of fees as a requisite before sitting for exams by students, it’s important to state that I can’t give instructions and my HODs decide to go contrary to that, it is then not loyalty,” Esimone said.

The institution’s Chief Executive disclosed that the Orientation programme is an interactive session to acquaint the new appointees of the rules and regulations regarding their appointment as well as to give them the terms of reference. The scholar averred that responsibility carries a price as when one inherits a position, he or she inherits privileges and liabilities.

Prof. Esimone opined that ‘Project 200’ is not just the Vice-Chancellor’s vision but for all in position of authority in the institution as it cannot be accomplished if they renege on their responsibility. He called on all and sundry to help in raising the cooperate image of the University by working as a team towards achieving institutional set goals and objectives.
