The Enugu Sports Club 1929, over the weekend added more feathers to the cap of the Managing Director, Enugu State Housing Development Corporation, Hon. Chukwuemelie Lambert Agu with an investiture as one of it’s patrons.
Hon. Agu was among the three eminent personalities who were welcomed into the exalted position of Patrons of the Sports Club during a well attended Saturday night’s show of conviviality and lavish ceremony at the Club’s Auditorium, Enugu.
Prof Charles Igwe, Vice Chancellor of Enugu State University and Prof Mike Nwafor of Godfery Okoye University, were also investured Patrons of Enugu Sports Club on Saturday alongside Hon. Chukwuemelie Agu.
Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi is the President of the Enugu Sports Club.
Executive Chairman of the Club, Barrister John Henry Nwosu, expressed profound gratitude to the Governor of Enugu State and President of the Sports Club, Rt Hon. Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his ‘immeasurable’ support to the club since he came into power.
“In a special way, I must express our gratitude to the President of Enugu Sports Club (1929) who is also the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt Hon. Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi CON, for his immeasurable support that that has led to the sustainability and growth of our dear club this seven (7) years and still running”, Barrister Nwosu said.
“Our appreciation also goes to our club trustees led by Prof. Bath Okolo for their financial and advisory roles”.
He went further to specify roles expected of the new Patrons.
“A Patron of the Club is consequently a person who has been conferred with the honour of a special guardian, protector, provider and benefactor to the Club”, he said.
The Club Chairman enumerated achievements recorded by his administration since coming into power 18 months ago, stressing that a lot more remain to be accomplished.
Hon. Chukwuemelie Agu’s citation highlighted his strides in private and public life, much to the admiration of the packed Auditorium.
Flanked by his pretty wife, the Enugu State Housing Corporatiin boss expressed appreciation to the Sports Club for finding him worthy of the exalted position of Patron of the Club.
“I’m grateful for this award. I can’t thank you enough. I really appreciate”, he said, while fighting off emotion.
