The Court of Appeal in Abuja has declared the Senator representing Ebonyi Central Zone, Obinna Ogba, as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state come 2023.

Though details of the judgement is still sketchy at the time of filing this report, the candidate confirmed the report in a chat with our contact in Ebonyi.

Meanwhile, jubilation has trailed the news back home in Abakaliki where PDP faithful and supporters of the Senator reportedly took to the street to celebrate the victory.

Recall that Chief Ifeanyi Odili was elected as the party’s governorship candidate in the state in the cancelled primary election held between May 28th and 29th.

But, in rescheduled primarues held on June 4th and 5th, 2022, Senator Ogba emerged.

To this end, Odi approached a Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki and upturned Ogba’s candidature, leading to his taking the matter to Court of Appeal in Abuja.
