The Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has on 16th November 2022 called on the federal government to take proactive measures to tackle banditary, kidnapping and other security issues recorded in the country.

He made this known during the 11th Zik’s lectures series held at the ASUU Secretariat, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

During his speech, he quoted the Global index report which ranked Nigeria as the 21st most dangerous country in the world, adding that this ranking is as a result of the rising insecurity issues experienced daily in the country.

Sen. Okowa added that one of the contributing factor to these is as a result of easy access to weapons by individuals.

He therefore called on the government to urgently address security challenges both in medium and long term in Nigeria.
