Honourable Chucks Agu, Founder of Lamray FC, Enugu says he’s highly honoured playing with former Nigeria international, Mobi Oparaku, Ifeanyi Ekwueme and Jude Agada in a novelty match Saturday at Enugu Sports Club to mark his birth day.
Agu is also the Managing Director, Enugu State Housing Corporation.
Ho. Chukwuemelie Agu spoke moments after the thrilling novelty match, which ended 2-1 in favour of Enugu Sports Club 5-A-Side Team and Covid-19 Team, Owerri.
“I feel honoured that my club mates remembered to honour me on my birth day which is still a week ahead”, Agu said in an emotion ladden tone.
“I don’t know who I’m for all these great, lovely people to come from far and near, including Owerri, to come here for this Novelty match in my honour, including Mobi Oparaku, the Almighty Mobi Oparaku, a Gold Medal winner with Nigeria’s U23 Dream Team 1 in Atlanta 1996 Olympics as well as Ifeanyi Ekwueme and many other former Internationals.
“I’m happy, really excited and I sincerely appreciate them”.
The fair-skinned Lamray FC boss who was billed for installation Saturday (November 5) as Patro of Enugu Sports Club, would go on to offer words of advise to Nigerians on the need for active participation in keep-fit sporting activities.
“Football is inspirational. 80%-90% of the populace like football. When it’s football, everyone come together.
“So, I encourage everyone to emulate what we’ve done today.
“This novelty match is a form of integration, harmonisation and a forum for us all to know each other better”.
Hon. Agu was on throughout the duration of the thrilling clash and revealed it was a product of his regular training exercises.
“I play all the time, so this one is nothing special.
