2022 Edition Of Zik Lecture Series Will Be One Of The Best — Prof Nnonyelu

The forthcoming 2022 edition of the Zik Lecture Series has been tagged to be one of the best in the series.

The Zik Lecture Series is an Initiative of Sen. Ben Ndi Obi, conveyed through the Faculty of Social Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

In an interview with Newspathfinder, the Adviser to the Zik Lecture Series and former Dean Faculty Of Social Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe university, Prof Au Nnonyelu said that the 2022 edition is coming with a lot of innovation.

He said that in the preparation of each edition, the organizers are mindful of the fact that the series is initiated essentially to immortalize the greatest pan Africanist, the man who fought among other contemporaries of his for Nigeria’s independence and also the liberation of the black race all over the world, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Owele , Onitsha.

“It is going to be one of the best in the history of the lecture series. We are looking forward to a special package. And l am sure that coming back after 8months strike, the university will have a harvest of intellectual activity”, he said.

Prof. Nnonyelu who attracted the series to the Faculty Of Social Sciences informed that a lot of well meaning Nigerians have been invited to grace the occasion including renowned Constitutional Lawyer and human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome who will serve as the Guest Lecturer.

“The keynote speaker is no other person than Chief Mike Ozhekome, a renowned Lawyer and he is going to speak on the topic “Nigeria in the Throes of Insecurity Towards 2023: “Any Panacea”?

“He is going to interrogate what is happening currently in respect to insecurity and likely impact or consequences on the conduct of 2023 elections. If possible suggest ways out”

Prof Nnonyelu explained that in chosing the theme and lecturer for this edition, the organizers considered the overarching goal of the Lecture series which is to serve as a catalyst for stimulating Intellectual engagement on critical issues confronting Nigeria, Africa, the black man and humanity as a way of keeping Zik’s values and contributions to national and African development, permanently ingrained in our memories.

The 2022 edition of the Ziks Lecture Series would be held at the ASUU-NAU Secretariat by 10am prompt on 16th November under the chairmanship of the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Sen Ifeanyi Okowa.

The Anambra state governor, Prof Charles Soludo, and former Chief of General Staff under the regime of General Babangida, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe will be Chief Guests of Honour while the Vice Chancellor Prof Charles Esimone and the Dean Faculty Of Social Sciences, Prof Uche Nwogwugwu will serve as Chief Host and Host respectively.
