The stage is set for the 8th Edition of the Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO/SELECT Preseason Tournament 2026 after organisers conducted the official draws yesterday.
20 clubs were drawn into 4 groups ahead of the preseason competition which has become a key platform for NPFL sides and top academies to sharpen up before the new season.
The draws pitched NPFL giants against hungry academies across all groups.
Group 1 has 8-time NPFL champions Rangers International FC drawn alongside Forster Football Academy, Umuahia, Excellent Football Academy, Delta State, and Flight FC, Gboko.
Group 2 features 9-time champions Enyimba FC with Doma United FC, CGC Football Academy, and Igho FC.
Group 3 will see Rivers United FC battle Kun Khalifat FC, Giant Brillars FC, Heartland FC, and Ingas Sports Club.
Group 4 has another NPFL side, Abia Warriors FC, in the same group with Diana-Emi FC, Udi Stars Academy and OCFA – Olive Charles Football Academy.
Named after former international and football administrator, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, the tournament has over the years served as a launchpad for clubs and young talents seeking visibility ahead of the league season.
The 2026 edition is expected to attract scouts, fans and media attention as teams use the competition to test new signings and tactics.
The tournament is proudly supported by Toscana Hotel, Aaron Suites, Prossy Investment Ltd, and Emeks Sports & Boutique Nig Ltd.
Organizers said that match dates and venues will be announced in the coming days.
