The Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, will organise a Novelty match on August 1, 2026 at the FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium, Ozubulu Road, Nnewi. in honour of late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
According to ANSFA Media, the match is part of activities marking the second memorial anniversary of the former ANSFA Chairman.
Late Senator Ifeanyi ‘Ebubechukwu Uzo’ served as Chairman of Anambra State Football Association and President of FC Ifeanyi Ubah. His emergence as ANSFA Chairman sparked a chain of positive developments in the state’s football sector.
He launched the famous ‘One Family, One Footballer’ initiative and masterminded FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s victory in the 2016 President Federation Cup after a 5-4 penalty shootout win over Nasarawa United at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
The match had ended 0-0 in regulation time. The club later represented Nigeria in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.
The business mogul and boss of Capital Oil and Gas died on 27 July, 2024.
As part of the second memorial activities, the Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi-led ANSFA has concluded arrangements for the novelty match to keep alive his sporting legacy.
