The Chairman of the Marketing Committee for Team Nigeria, Ambassador Augustine Chigbolu, has appealed to corporate organisations, government institutions and well-meaning Nigerians to support Nigeria’s national archery team, the FLAMES, ahead of the 2026 African Archery Championship in Algeria.

The championship is scheduled to take place in Oran, Algeria, from July 21 to July 26, 2026, where Team Nigeria will be aiming to make a strong statement against some of the continent’s best archers.

Chigbolu said the success of the national team will depend not only on the athletes’ preparation but also on the level of support they receive from stakeholders committed to the growth of sports in Nigeria.

He urged corporate bodies to invest in the team, describing sponsorship as a vital contribution towards ensuring the athletes have the resources needed to compete effectively on the continental stage.

The marketing committee chairman commended organisations that have already thrown their weight behind the team, singling out SBS Nigeria for its commitment to the development of archery in the country.
According to him, the company’s support demonstrates how strategic partnerships between the private sector and sports federations can help Nigerian athletes achieve greater success internationally.

Chigbolu expressed optimism that with increased backing from both the public and private sectors, the FLAMES would be well-positioned to deliver an outstanding performance at the African championship.

Also expressing confidence in the team’s prospects, the President of the Nigeria Archery Federation, Mohammed Abdullahi, said preparations are geared towards ensuring Nigeria competes at the highest level in Oran.

He noted that the federation is determined to see the FLAMES produce a spectacular performance at the championship and further establish Nigeria as an emerging force in African archery.

The African Archery Championship is expected to attract top archers from across the continent, providing Team Nigeria with another opportunity to showcase the country’s growing strength in the sport.
