Athletes from Benin, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and host nation Nigeria are gearing up for the highly anticipated Dynamic Athletics Meet, scheduled to take place in mid-August at the Yabatech Sports Complex in Lagos.

Dynamic Athletics founder and meet organiser, Olabanji Ayegbusi, confirmed that the World Athletics-listed competition has already generated strong interest across West Africa, with athletes from the participating countries indicating their readiness through emails and other communication channels.

With the 2026 athletics season gradually drawing to a close, many competitors see the meet as an ideal opportunity to round off their campaigns on a high note by producing outstanding performances, achieving personal bests and improving their world rankings.

The Dynamic Athletics Meet has built a reputation for producing high-quality performances over the years, including world-leading marks, meeting records and numerous personal bests.

This year’s edition is expected to continue that tradition by providing a competitive platform for both elite and emerging athletes. The official competition date and registration details will be announced soon.

Speaking ahead of the event, Ayegbusi appealed to stakeholders for increased technical and financial support to ensure the successful staging of the championship.

According to him, the meet plays a crucial role in expanding competition opportunities for athletes while offering a platform for both established and up-and-coming talents to showcase their abilities.

“The Dynamic Athletics Meet belongs to everyone in the athletics family—athletes, coaches, former athletes, media practitioners, board members, technical officials and track and field philanthropists. We all have a role to play in making it bigger and better,” Ayegbusi said.

He also called on the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the National Sports Commission (NSC) to lend their support to the initiative, noting that their backing would significantly contribute to the continued growth and development of athletics in Nigeria and across the West African region.
