Noah Shogbaike was the difference for FC Bayern World Squad as they kicked off their Korea tour with a 5-3 victory over Jeju SK U18s in Jeju province.
The Nigerian U20 forward came off the bench with Bayern trailing 1-2 and immediately turned the game.
Shogbaike scored the equalizer to make it 2-2, then set up the go-ahead goal to put the World Squad 3-2 up. Bayern pushed on from there to seal a 5-3 win in the tour opener.
His impact recalls the path of former Nigerian World Squad member Victor Orakpo, whose performances for the programme drew interest from top European clubs before his move to Ligue 1’s OGC Nice.
With five matches remaining on the tour, Shogbaike has more chances to build his reputation as one of Nigeria’s top U20 talents and attract attention from European scouts.
