As Nigerians celebrate Christmas, Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has urged Christians to prioritize the spiritual aspect of the festivities.

In his Christmas message, Bishop Ezeokafor emphasized that the joy of Christmas is multiplied when shared with others.

He encouraged believers to spread love, kindness, and peace, especially to those in need and make peace with one another, highlighting the importance of unity and harmony during the festive season.

Bishop Ezeokafor also used the occasion to call on the government to take proactive measures to address pressing issues affecting the nation.

He expressed concern over the astronomical rise in transportation costs, which is causing untold hardships for citizens urging the government to regulate prices and ensure that the cost of living becomes more manageable for the average Nigerian.

The Bishop condemned the killing of Christians in the north by bandits, describing it as a disturbing trend that requires immediate attention. He called on the government to take concrete steps to curb insecurity and protect the lives of citizens.

While commending the Dangote refinery for reducing the fuel pump price, Bishop Ezeokafor expressed dismay at the prevalence of corruption in the petroleum industry.

He prayed for peace and progress in the nation in the coming year, urging Nigerians to seek God’s guidance and protection.
