Former Super Falcons hero and Assistant Coach, Maureen Mmadu is set to be honoured with the SWAN Diamond Jubilee National Award by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

The award recognizes the national pride and glory Mmadu brought to Nigeria through her sports achievements in Super Falcons as well as her continued contributions to football development in the country via her Maureen Mmadu Football Academy.

SWAN Secretary-General Ambassador Ikenna Okonkwo informed Mmadu of her nomination in a letter dated October 10, 2025.

The letter read

“I am pleased to inform you that, you have been nominated as a recipient of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Diamond Jubilee National Award”,

“The conferment is in recognition of the national pride and glory you brought to your fatherland”,

“Nigerian sports writers owe it to thank you for making Nigeria great through sports,”

The award ceremony will take place at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on October 31, 2025, at 1 pm.

SWAN, established in 1964, is a member of the Association Internationale De La Presse Sportive (AIPS) and the African Sports Journalists Union (ASJU).
