Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke today officially began her journey of a five-year term as the new Registrar of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
The Acting Registrar Mr Victor Modebelu handed over to the new Registrar in a brief ceremony that took place in the Registrar’s Office.
In her brief remarks, the new Registrar while calling for team work assured colleagues and staff of commitment to building a thriving university.
She also promised to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the university while recognizing the importance of the registry department in facilitating the academic and administrative functions of the institution.
Dr Okeke pledged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in her work.
Her appointment was announced on Friday by Barrister Olugbenga Kukoyi, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, during the 18th Emergency Meeting of the Council.
Before her appointment, Dr. Okeke served as a Deputy Registrar I (Senate), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
Born on May 31, 1978, Dr. Okeke holds a B.Sc. in Government/Public Administration from Abia State University, Uturu, Abia State, which she earned in 1999. She obtained her M.Sc. in Public Administration from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in 2006 and completed her Ph.D. in Public Administration (Public Policy Analysis) at the same institution in 2018.
Dr. Okeke’s career at Nnamdi Azikiwe University began in 2002 as an Administrative Assistant. She progressed through various roles, including Administrative Officer, Assistant Registrar, Senior Assistant Registrar, Principal Assistant Registrar, Faculty Administrative Officer, and Deputy Registrar. Her experience spans multiple units, including Admissions, Personnel, Continuing Education Programme, and University Senate.
As Registrar, Dr. Okeke is expected to provide leadership and guidance overseeing administrative activities. Her wealth of experience and expertise in university administration will likely enable her to make a positive impact in her new role.
Dr. Okeke is from Igboukwu in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. She is married with four children.
