…Sets Record Straight On Player Recruitment

Enyimba FC Sporting Director Ifeanyi Ekwueme has responded to allegations made by Heartland Football Club’s Technical Manager, Emmanuel Amuneke, accusing Enyimba of poaching Heartland players.

Ekwueme denied the claims, stating that the players in question approached Enyimba on their own, accompanied by their managers and agents, without any solicitation from the club.

“Ordinarily, I would not engage in a public exchange with Coach Amuneke, who is my senior in both age and football. However, for the sake of clarity and because silence can sometimes be misinterpreted as consent I must set the record straight.

He explained that the players arrived Enyimba with their clearance documents, raising questions about how they obtained them emphasizing that Enyimba did not request clearance papers from Heartland FC, contradicting Amuneke’s allegations.

Ekwueme pointed out that player movement is a natural part of football, citing examples of Enyimba’s own players who have moved to other clubs, including Abia Warriors and Rivers United, without complaint.

The Enyimba Sporting Director advised Heartland to focus on recruiting committed players and managing their responsibilities.

Ekwueme’s statement aims to set the record straight, emphasizing that silence could be misinterpreted as consent. The club is set to issue its own rebuttal to Heartland’s press statement
